The Human Society of the United StatesÂ announced today that it would continue to accept new requests for reunion assistance until November 23rd. This is great. Evacuees who have finally gotten into their house, have made assesments and figured out what they need to do, still have time to try to find the other part of their family who may have been displaced.

The HSUS will work until December 16th on any cases received by November 23rd. So far, the HSUS has had nearly 600 reunions. People have probably been to their homes, been devastated and found comfort finding their pet. At least, one thing has made them put a smile on their face.

Pets diplaced by Hurricane Katrina were taken to Gonzales, La and Hattisburg Miss. A little over 7,400 pets were rescued from the gulf coast and placed in temporary homes.
